The Expert at the Card Table

After sold-out success at the Edinburgh Festival in 2008, and a series of international performances and a recent sell-out run at the infamous Magic Castle in L.A., we are delighted that The Expert at the Card Table will perform at the Chocolate Factory on April 2nd – 4th for an exclusive three night run.

Guy Hollingworth is an acknowledged expert of sleight of hand and card technique. In this one man show, he performs dazzling exhibitions of card chicanery alongside a compelling story of trickery, deceit and death.

Based on a book of the same name, The Expert at the Card Table tells the story of two boys whose innocent love of card tricks develops in adulthood into a dangerous game of hustles and street cons that lead to trickery, deception and death.

Published anonymously in 1902, the book describes in great detail, original and brilliant methods for conjuring effects, whilst at the same time revealing the author’s true intent - a full exposé of the underground techniques used by hustlers, card cheats and con artists.

“Genuinely jaw-dropping tricks” Metro

“A fascinating tale…Superb” ***** The Scotsman
