THE SEX PARTY

Four couples gather in a suburban London home for an evening of wine, cheese, and more intimate pleasures. Some are curious, some are more familiar, and one is rather unexpected. Thus a promising evening is poised to go beyond anyone’s expectations...

The world première of this play by Terry Johnson similarly promises to surprise, perhaps shock, and most certainly entertain!

Will Barton recently appeared as Boris Johnson in The Last Temptation of Boris Johnson at the Edinburgh Fringe and at the Park Theatre.  His other theatre credits include The Libertine (Theatre Royal Haymarket), Toast (Park Theatre, UK tour and off-Broadway), Fings Ain’t Wot They Used to Be (Stratford East) and Festen (UK tour).
 
Lisa Dwan’s theatre work includes Happy Days (Riverside Studios), No’s Knife (Old Vic), Shining City (Irish Repertory Theatre, New York) and Not I/Footfalls/Rockaby (Royal Court/West End/National tour).  On television she has been seen in Bloodlands and Top Boy, and her films include Tailor of Panama, Oliver Twist and Lord Lucan.
 
John Hopkins last appeared at the Menier in The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ½ - the Musical.  Theatre includes The 39 Steps (Criterion), The Boys in the Band (Park Theatre and Vaudeville Theatre), Ben Hur (Tricycle) and Titus Andronicus, Candide, Antony and Cleopatra, the Tempest and Julius Caesar (all RSC).  His television credits include Midsomer Murders, Poldark, Endeavour, Catastrophe and Secret Diary of a Call Girl.
 
Timothy Hutton rose to stardom in the film Ordinary People, for which he won the Oscar and Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor.  His other film credits include The Falcon and the Snowman, Taps, Daniel, Iceman, Kinsey, All the Money in the World and The Glorias.  His television credits include The Haunting of Hill House, J ack Ryan and Nero Wolfe.
 
Jason Merrells' theatre credits include How the Other Half Loves (Theatre Royal Haymarket), Five Finger Exercise (Coronet), Twelve Angry Men (UK tour), Measure for Measure (Theatre Royal Plymouth and UK tour)  and Twelfth Night and The Comedy of Errors (both for the RSC).  On television he has been seen as a regular on Agatha Raisin, Emmerdale, Waterloo Road and Cutting It.
 
Pooya Mohseni recently appeared in English (Atlantic Theatre Company, New York), Hamlet and The Comedy of Errors (both the Play On Shakespeare Festival) and Our Town (Pride Plays). Her television credits include Law & Order: SVU, Big Dogs and Madam Secretary.
 
Molly Osborne previously appeared at the Menier in Indecent and Fiddler on the Roof (also Playhouse).  Her television work includes Call the Midwife.
 
Kelly Price has been seen at the Menier in The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13 ½ - the Musical and A Little Night Music (also Garrick Theatre; Olivier Award nomination for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical); her other theatre includes Passion (Hope Mill), Guys and Dolls (Piccadilly) Chicago (Cambridge), Mamma Mia (Novello), All the Angels: Handel and the First Messiah (Shakespeare’s Globe) and What’s New Pussycat? (Birmingham Rep).

For television, her work includes This is Going to Hurt, Free Rein, Suspects, Lewis, Shameless (as series regular PC Carrie Rogers), The Amazing Mrs Pritchard, Christmas Merry, Murphy’s Law, The Forsyte Saga (as Holly Forsyte), Real Men and Attachments (as series regular Soph); and for film, Red Mercury, Stealing Lives, Britannic, The Man Who Held his Breath, Metroland, Woodlanders, and Jude.


As a playwright, Terry Johnson’s work includes Dead Funny, Prism and Ken (Hampstead Theatre), Insignificance, Hysteria (Olivier Award for Best Comedy), Piano/Forte, Hitchcock Blonde (Royal Court Theatre), The Graduate (West End and Broadway), Mrs Henderson Presents (West End and Toronto), Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick (National Theatre; Olivier Award for Best Comedy) and The London Cuckolds (National Theatre). At the Menier, his directing credits include La Cage aux Folles (also West End and Broadway; Tony Award for Best Director of a Musical) and Rookery Nook.  Other directing credits include Oh! What a Lovely War and Fings Ain't Wot They Used T'Be (Theatre Royal Stratford East; marking the 50th Anniversary of Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop), The Duck House, End of the Rainbow, The Prisoner of Second Avenue, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Rain Man, Whipping It Up, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Entertaining Mr Sloane and Elton John's Glasses (all West End). Nicholas Roeg's film of Insignificance was the official British Entry at Cannes in 1985. His plays have won him  the Playwright of the Year Award 1995, Critics' Circle Best New Play Award 1995, The League of American Theatres and Producers Best Touring Play Award 2001, plus two Evening Standard Theatre Awards, two Writers Guild Best Play Awards and the Time Out Best Play Award.
