THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced, proactive, and highly organised Front of House Manager to take responsibility for the efficient running of all public-facing areas – as well as manage our Front of House team and work alongside the building operations, office, management and visiting production companies,
This is a dynamic, hands-on role mainly focused on evening and weekend work. You’ll be a key player in the day-to-day running of the venue, working closely with the Bar Manager and Production Coordinator to ensure the building, staff, and operations run smoothly and professionally.
The role will mainly consist of shifts Tues-Sun, across a seven-show week. Average 35 hours a week
- Evening show hours (17:00 – 22:00)
- Matinee show hours (12:00 – 17:00)
- Double-show day hours (12:00-22:00, with a suitable break in between)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Front of House Management
- Oversee the running of all FOH operations including ushers and supervisors
- Act as duty manager for performances
- Manage FOH rota, including casual staff for ushers, box office, and bar (though, most times you will work alongside the Bar Manager, rather than schedule the bat team).
- Provide excellent customer service and manage audience feedback or incidents
- Run FOH for all press nights and assist in organising and the running of associated afterparties
- Stay up to date with show reports from the production team and action relevant notes swiftly and effectively
Building & Facilities Operations
- Assist with general building operations, maintenance, and contractor management, working alongside the General Manager and Production Coordinator to make sure everything runs smoothly
- Liaise with relevant contractors and local contacts regarding essential building maintenance
- Manage access control, alarm systems, and general building security
- Carry out or coordinate minor building repairs and day-to-day maintenance tasks
- Create, monitor, and update a detailed “how-to” manual for all systems within the building
IT & Equipment Oversight
- Troubleshoot technical issues and liaise with external IT support as needed
- Ensure smooth operation of in-house systems such as printers, card machines, tills, scanners, and Wi-Fi
Office & Administrative Duties
- Collate and submit monthly FOH payroll administration to the General Manager
- Ensure consistent communication across departments
Box Office & Daytime Operations
- On occasion, support daytime box office operations including customer service, memberships, and ticket enquiries
- Work alongside the Box Office Manager to ensure consistent training and procedures
- Experience working with the NLIVEN and FEVER ticketing systems is desirable but not essential. As well as communications with third-party ticketing platforms
Health & Safety
- Maintain compliance with fire, health & safety, licensing, and accessibility regulations, liaising with the General Manager and Production Coordinator.
- Lead on scheduling regular checks, inspections, and reporting
- Ensure all FOH staff are trained in safety procedures and customer care
Production Support
- Work closely with the Production Manager to coordinate the front of house areas for get-ins and get-outs for shows, as well as the Production Coordinator
- Provide operational support for visiting productions and events
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
- Proven experience in a similar FOH/building operations role within a theatre or events venue
- Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills
- Strong customer service ethos and a calm, professional demeanour
- IT literacy and confidence with troubleshooting office and venue technology
- Basic building maintenance skills and confidence liaising with contractorsStrong knowledge of health & safety and fire safety protocols
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Desirable:
- Experience with NLIVEN, FEVER or similar ticketing platforms
- First aid and fire marshal certification
- A passion for theatre and live performance
